Holly Holiday and the Christmas Forest

Synopsis

What if Christmas magic could grow forever?
There’s nothing about Christmas that Holly Holiday doesn’t love. That is until her parents decide to drag her beloved tree to the street the day after Christmas. Holly then decides that magic shouldn’t just end as soon as the yuletide festivities are over. Instead, magic needs to grow!

With Holly’s willful determination and Christmas spirit, she embarks on a years-long journey to change tradition while keeping the magic alive well beyond the holidays. This is a remarkable tale about a young girl’s resolution to nurture the magic of Christmas until it grows into an evergreen forest.

The Good

Art: The slight addition of glitter embellishment, Christmas decorations/background elements

The sentences are simple which I can see being good for the target audience. I think it gives the story a good flow.

I like how the message was presented and it was a fun story.

I can envision activities:

A. Questions: what are some alternatives to buying a new tree every year? How can you make it that Christmas is all year? What are some ways to add nature/greenery to different holiday seasons? What are ways we can replenish nature?

B. Planting of trees or small plants as your forest

C. There is a lot of Christmas decorations in background so it would be good to come back to and do a seek & find game.

Plants Progress

Week One – 11-2-22

I received some morning spruce seeds also in Holly Holiday package which I planted with some winter squash and lettuce.

Week Two – 11-27-22

It rained for a week or two = plenty of water for all the seeds but no update for those two weeks.

Week Three – 11-30-22

It has been only three days between the last update but 28 days since I first planted all the seeds. So far, the only thing that is growing is the lettuce.

I have so many things I think I could have done better: germinated in the house before putting spruce outside, did an inside & outside germination, or just planted everyone earlier. I am excited to see where everyone is in mid-December or even January (realistically that is how long it is going to take to see some growth on the morning spruce). 🎄
