What Caught In My Web: Spiderman Day Reviews

To celebrate Spiderman day I decided to read a mix of Spiderman books across the Spiderverse and  different bookish mediums.

Spider-Man: Far From Home: Spider-Man Swings Through Europe!

Swing alongside Spider-Man as he travels through Europe! Whether he’s riding in a gondola through the Venice canals or breaking out all his best moves to get a reaction from the Queen’s Guard in London, Spider-Man is determined to have the best vacation ever.

Full of vibrant and hilarious original art, this picture book shows off the various European locations seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and is told from Peter Parker’s unique point of view.

Perfect for curious young readers who love Super Heroes, the book also has hidden characters and details from Spidey’s world. You never know what-or who-you might find!

it can be read without the movie or after seeing the movie (basically its not a rehash of the movie)

Art: Cutesy style like, there are some cool details to look out for

(stops myself from really gushing about new superhero picture books coming out currently that I love)

Spider-Man Classic: Spider-Man’s Big City Showdown

A rash of unspeakable crimes has befallen New York City–and Spider-Man is the lead suspect The amazing web-slinger will have to devise some ingenious tricks to clear his name and stop his foe.

One of the thoughts I had was this adventure could be part of a larger story in a comic book. Basically, it is a comic and picture book  hybrid so it can be a gateway for kiddos to comics.

Art: it has early 2010s or 2000 comics style, there are panels so it is closer to a comic in style than Spiderman Swings Through Europe

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover (chapters 1-2)

The official prequel to MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN from Marvel and Insomniac Games, with an exclusive adventure that leads directly into the game itself.

THE OFFICIAL PREQUEL TO THE BLOCKBUSTER ACTION VIDEO GAME!

PETER PARKER is caught in a complicated web. Working in a cutting-edge laboratory, he’s a young scientist who’s trying to make a difference. Yet he’s constantly burdened by the responsibilities of his second career as the crime-fighting…

SPIDER-MAN

Wilson Fisk the so-called Kingpin of Crime has returned to New York, establishing himself publicly as an altruistic entrepreneur and philanthropist. Spider-Man knows better, but he can’t uncover Fisk s scheme that, if executed, will make the crime lord “too big to fail.”

When a new threat a deadly doppelganger with Spider-Man’s suit and abilities wreaks havoc in the streets, can the real wall-crawler prove his innocence? With the clock ticking and lives on the line, can Spider-Man stop the brutal rampage of the Blood Spider? Will Spider-Man fall to his fears and foes, or will he rise and be greater?

When I first started it I thought now is probably not the time to read it but after reading the further (the second chapter) I got more into it. So I think that I’ll get more into it as I read further but so far it is okay.

Spider-man/Venom (FCBD 2019)

Everyone knows Miles Morales, who rose to fame in Marvel’s acclaimed animated sensation Into The Spider-Verse – and with a second feature film arriving this year, Peter Parker will once again suit up to save the world with his web-slinging super powers! In a special FCBD story, creators Tom Taylor, Saladin Ahmed, and Cory Smith take these superstar heroes of the Spider-Verse in a shocking new direction, with a story that will build to one of Marvel’s most fantastic and epic tales later this year!

And prepare for absolute terror within the pages of FCBD, as an original Venom story by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman sets the stage for what will become one of the most fearsome events in the Marvel Universe…

Nearly a year after the epic red-hot arc of the Red Goblin, Venom’s dynamic creative team is bringing you a story that’s been brewing since classic Spider-Man tales like Amazing Spider-Man #252, The Spectacular Spider-Man #90, Marvel Team-Up #141 – a saga so big and so absolutely action-packed, it will deliver the most dramatic story in all of FCBD history! Fans will be well aware by the summer of 2019 that “everyone is a target”…and the 1st Saturday in May, Marvel invites you to experience the threat for yourself!

Absolute Carnage= Makes me think the movie Venom could  have used/can use this as plot (but can’t because this is a Marvel comic). I’m interested.

Art: Modern comic art style

Friendly Neighborhood Rivalry= Funny, cute, its a short story adventure of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, we do not get enough of superheroes having fun/doing mundane things

Art: Usual comic art in that in-between of early 2010s/modern comic style

(I don’t know if I’m giving good reviews of the art because I’m basically describing what the art style is like. I just like all of the art styles that I saw)

Silk #1-7 (or entire first volume of Silk)

Is it readable for people who haven’t read the Spiderverse? I’ve read the  Spiderverse  (years ago) but there were things I have no recollection  of. For the most part I do remember a lot so it worked for me.

Spoiler?: the end of the  #7 ties into Secret Wars… I feel a way about that. I feel that Secret Wars is going to derail Cindy Moons story. This is a problem especially considering the fact that issue 7 was finally moving the bigger story forward.

Art: modern comics art, colorful, cute
